On the morning of July 2, Party Committee Secretary Wei Zuo came to College of Horticulture for work guidance, accompanied by Simao Quan, Deputy Director of the Party Office. All members of College of Horticulture leadership participated in the seminar.
The seminar was presided over by Jinfeng Chen. Fadi Chen made a detailed report on behalf of the college from five areas, including personnel training, faculty team, discipline construction, platform construction and scientific research. Other leaders in charge of college work also made a report about their work.
Wei Zuo first extended his congratulations to College of Horticulture for the achievements made recently. He proposed suggestions for the future development of the college from three levels, namely, college level, teaching level and teacher level. In terms of college level, the college need to first make a good top-level design, make a clear goal, path and time node for development from a higher level, corresponding to the school development target and path; Second, the college needs to find foreign correspondence school as development goal and compare with each other to find advantages and disadvantages and propose measures to resolve the problems in discipline construction. We need to refer to discipline evaluation results and identify short-leg indicators, and finally propose solutions to solve these problems. We need to discern the future direction of disciplines, while focusing on fostering new growth point of discipline. In terms of teaching level, through strengthening freshmen education and increase teaching hours to introduction classes, strengthen publicity and enhance students’ professional identity. We want to develop not only common technical personnel but also senior management personnel and leaders. In terms of teacher level, teacher training should be top-level designed, with plans ahead. We need to have a holistic and forward-looking thinking, always leaving room for future development. It is necessary to respect the teachers’ research directions, but also take accounts for needs of college development and regional development. We should leave enough room and space so that people can enter at any time according to needs. Zuo stressed that research and teaching go hand in hand with the talents. We need to attach equal emphasis to teaching and research, as well as to basic theory and application.
