From 22th to 24th in March 2014, Richard J. McAvoy, professor of Department of Botany, University of Connecticut, led a delegation to visit our school. Their goal during this visit is mainly to discuss in detail and do project publicity for the forthcoming recruitment of “3 +2 program” in Landscape Architecture. At 9:00 a.m. on March 24, the two sides discussed the details of cooperation project in the Conference Room of Department of International Exchanges and Cooperation. The meeting was chaired by Hongsheng Zhang, Director of Department of International Exchanges and Cooperation. Relevant personnel from College of Horticulture and Department of International Exchanges and Cooperation attended the meeting (Figure 1). During the meeting, the two sides made a simple introduction to themselves and their schools. They also had a discussion on the training program and its objectives, and they finally reached a consensus (Fig. 2). After the conference, the delegation visited the Landscape Architecture Department and saw the students’ designed work, and observed undergraduate class (Figure 3). Finally, the delegation made an introduction of the status, teaching abilities and project content of their university and horticultural landscape orientation in their university. And they welcome students to further study in their university, promising to provide service-based learning environment (Fig. 4) in order to achieve win-win results.
University of Connecticut, referred to as UCONN, was founded in 1881. Its predecessor is Storrs Agricultural School, and in 1939 it was officially named the University of Connecticut, ranking the 58th in American universities in 2012. The main campus is located in Storrs, covering 4,104 acres. UCONN consists of 13 schools, having 101 undergraduate majors and 80 research directions. Due to its geographical advantages, landscape subjects have a long history and great international influence. Nanjing Agricultural University and University of Connecticut signed the Intercollegiate Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement in 2013.

Relative personnel in the International Exchange and Cooperation Department and College of Horticulture also attended this conference.
